13/9/2006 - EVS & FSJ'li gönüllülerimizin ilk izlenimleri

Hanna & Sebastian

EVS (European Volunteer Services) programıyla ülkemize gelen Hana Dinger ve FSJ (Freiwillige Soziales Jahr) programından Sebastian Kohls Ağustos ayı itibarıyla TKV/AFS ofisimizde çalışmaya başladılar. 21-25 Ağustos tarihleri arasında Ankara’da EVS eğitimine katılan gönüllülerimiz döndüklerinde bizlerle ilk izlenimlerini paylaştılar.

I was picked up by an AFS volunteer at the airport and immediately was happy to be here. From the airplane I had already seen how unbelievably huge the city is. Being in a taxi and driving through it made me realize that this would be my home for the upcoming year.
In the following week I had time to experience life in Istanbul and get to know the city better. I was just amazed by the contrasts one can find while walking through the streets here. Everywhere you can feel a tension, people rushing form a to b but still always having time for a tea somewhere at the corner.
People made me fell very comfortable right after I arrived here and I believe I can consider myself lucky to be here. The hospitality of the Turkish people simply amazes me.
In the office it is the same. Everybody is trying to make my time here as perfect as possible and is helping me wherever necessary.
Last week I was in Ankara for a week to get my on arrival orientation. It was great to meet other volunteers from all over Europe and share my experiences with them.
After the first two weeks I have started to already feel a little settled down and I am confident that my time in the office and in the city of Istanbul will be a lasting experience for me and an enriching time for all involved.

16 days in Turkey…..
I cannot believe these were only 16 days ‘cause I’ve seen more than in the five months before…
Istanbul is incredible…. unbelievable big and impressing!
Here you can find everything, I’m sure!
Things you haven’t seen before but also a German dry-cleaning-store called “Hoffmann”...
The Afs-Office is placed in one of the best and most expencive parts of Istanbul.
It’s no problem to spend money here, I can tell you!
Are you a shopping-Junkey? Come here!
The people are what you call “laid-back”. Very relaxed.
Hurry up?! No, come on, let’s have a “çay”...(-;

Last week I got some impressions of Ankara, the Turkish capital.
We had our On-Arrival-Training there, together with other volunteers from all over Europe, who will stay in Turkey for a while. we had a great time. We exchanged our experiences, hopes and fears concening our EVS.
